Green Future x Akosée - Being a Sustainable Fashion Brand

Making sustainable fashion the norm. A little insight into our journey of becoming a fully sustainable fashion brand.

We have recently been busy creating a special capsule collection made from Healfiber. This amazing lightweight stretch jersey is made with graphene, a product derived from corn cob waste. Among it’s many unique properties graphene is anti bacterial, anti odour and a thermal conductor.

The fabric composition for these styles is 50% Graphene Modal and 50% Cotton. The sustainability factor around Healfiber comes from the origins of the graphene. Originally derived from corn cob waste, the end result graphene is one of the       strongest, thinnest and most flexible fabrics in textiles without using synthetic polymers.

Graphene is a thermal conductor meaning that in hot climates it will create a cooling effect and in cool climates create a warming effect. Graphene acts as a filter between the body and the environment, evenly distributing the body heat.

Using Healfiber for fashion garments is a new concept. The cool, comfortable and breathable fabric feels noticeably different on the body. Traditionally used for active wear, Akosée is pushing boundaries and creating a fashionable edit.

Our Healfiber T-shirt is cut for a slightly boxy fit, features a tucked sleeveless style and sits just below the belly button for a ‘longer than crop’ length.

The Amare Stretch Slip Dress is a 90s style slip dress with a front split. It has a small cowl neck and adjustable tie straps so everyone gets the perfect fit. This dress length falls somewhere between midi and maxi making it ankle length or 7/8.

The Terra Ruched T-Shirt Dress is a short t-shirt dress with ruched detailing and flattering decorative Akosée elastic at the waist line.

Our Coelum Draped T-Shirt Dress with ruched drawstring details makes for a perfect statement casual look. With draped details at the neckline this dress is asymmetrical and the left side can be worn off the shoulder or up on the shoulder. The skirt has an adjustable ruched drawstring on the left side which can be worn tied all the way up or left down for a full length look.

As part of our #littlegreensteps towards sustainability, we have also produced some limited edition #upcycled #denim pieces with recycled jeans and skirts. We like to think of these pieces as ‘perfectly imperfect’ with unfinished hems for a raw look, no two pieces are the same.
